Dr. Luis A. Perez, DDS, MS

Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology

Luis A. Perez, DDS, MS, attended the Central University of Venezuela (Universidad Central de Venezuela), graduating in 1994. Following his general dental training, Dr. Perez worked as a general dentist for 4 years as well as a clinical coordinator for “El Valle” internship at the Central University of Venezuela.

In 2001 he received a Certificate in Periodontics and a Master of Science in Oral Science at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.

Immediately after completion of his graduate training, Dr. Perez obtained the Diplomate status by the American Board of Periodontology. Later he was awarded a Fellowship by the American College of Dentists (FACD) and the International College of Dentists (FICOD).

He serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Michigan and is actively involved in numerous professional organizations, including the American Academy of PeriodontologyMidwest Society of Periodontology, Michigan Periodontal AssociationInternational Congress of Oral Implantologists, American Dental AssociationMichigan Dental Association and Genesee District Dental Society (Past President and Editor).

In addition, Dr. Perez has served for several years as Oral Examiner for the Michigan specialty license in Periodontics, lectures nationally and internationally, and has published several articles on periodontics and dental implants.

Dr. Perez is licensed to deliver intravenous sedation for patient comfort.  He speaks fluent Spanish and English and maintains a practice limited to Periodontics and Dental Implants in Flint, Michigan – USA.


Dr. Mustafa Tattan, DDS, MS

Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology

Dr. Tattan, originally from Mississauga, ON, Canada, completed his dental training in Dubai. He completed a Periodontics fellowship at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, then moved to Iowa City and obtained a Certificate in Periodontics and a Master of Science in Oral Science at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. His research included the study of guided implant placement, surgical therapy of peri-implantitis and advanced bone grafting techniques. Dr. Tattan has spent an extensive amount of time training with some of the world's leading clinicians and is licensed to deliver intravenous sedation for patient comfort.

Dr. Tattan obtained the Diplomate status by the American Board of Periodontology.  He has published over 30 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals in the areas of implant dentistry, bone and gum grafting, and periodontal disease. He currently serves as a scientific reviewer for the Journal of Periodontology, International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry, Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research, Clinical Advances of Periodontology, International Journal of Oral Implantology, and Clinical and Experimental Dental Research.

When not caring for his patients, Dr. Tattan enjoys spending quality time with his family, traveling and cheering on the Pistons, Lions and Wolverines!
